Five Years of the Intelligent Drive System

When ARCC Bikes first opened its doors in 2012, it set out with the simple goal of creating well-engineered and high-quality bike systems, designed and manufactured in Britain. After several years of intricate research and development, it released its own e-bike retrofit kit: the e²-pod Intelligent Drive System.

Hugely influential, the commercial success of the e²-pod enabled ARCC Bikes to branch out to designing and developing its own bike models. It also allowed the ARCC site to expand and act as an incubator facility for other tech and product design disruptors.

Indeed, the e²-pod continues to be the heart and soul of ARCC; as the model of continuous innovation, sophisticated construction and unbeaten intelligence that all the businesses at ARCC emulate.

While remaining discrete and easy to use, the e²-pod is constantly evolving, but its basic principles of simple construction coupled with superior intelligence have been in place since the Gen I.

Thanks to the great engineers and electronic designers at ARCC, the incorporation of pedal cadence and torque sensors, as well as an inbuilt accelerometer, put the Gen I system leaps and bounds ahead of other conversion kits.

Able to detect multiple factors that affect pedaling power, and adjust motor output accordingly, this responsiveness has still not been matched by other kits. But the minds at ARCC Bikes did not want to rest on their laurels, and very quickly after the Gen I e²-pod was released did work begin on the Gen II.

Streamlining the user experience even more, whilst reducing the system’s weight by almost half a kilo, the Gen II’s incorporation of Bluetooth connectivity and handlebar-mounted controller allows the rider to flick between modes and power levels on the fly and remains another unique feature amongst available retrofit kits.

With exciting new technological developments on the horizon for the e²-pod, including its upcoming compatibility with the ARCC Folding Bike, ARCC Bikes is excited to show even more of what the e²-pod has to offer.
