Meet Mannequino®

Mannequino® was conceived by UK designers Kelly Sant and Arash Kaynama, it is the world’s first circular mannequin design.

The designers, both alumni of the Royal College of Art, London, came to ARCC for their manufacturing expertise and specifically manufacturing in the UK.

They have developed a small state of the art, dynamic digital design and production facility on site, and with a tiny footprint and are sending out hundreds if not thousands of flat-packed Mannequino to locations on high streets all around the world.

Mannequinos have a patented design comprised of panels that fit together to make 2D panels into 3D forms. The circular concept has new, smarter built-in mannequin features that suit today’s demanding global retail environments and recent shift towards stricter environmental governance. Providing a super lightweight, easier to use, affordable to ship solution, which can be manually disassembled by store staff and shipped to new locations. As well as the shift in material saving and carbon footprint, the product can be realistically and economically recycled, which is the main obstruction to sustainability with solidly manufactured, heavy mannequins.

A Mannequino® is made using digital manufacturing that consumes less than 80-98% material than typical body forms.

The busts are made from non-toxic polypropylene, a bi-product material widely used and recycled globally in retail, enabling brands such as Christopher Raeburn, Patagonia, Levi Strauss, Canada Goose, Geox, Timberland, Lee, Rodd & Gunn, Rapha, Cotswold Outdoor and Muji to keep their raw materials in a closed loop.

Global brands roll them out internationally and can relocate them very economically.

Mannequino was selected for its circular design in 2018 by Fashion for Good (Amsterdam) which is the first Museum dedicated to sustainable fashion, founded by Cradle to Cradle author, William McDonough. Mannequino is also an official production partner for the Copenhagen Fashion Summit, selected as the first closed loop mannequin design for the summit conference and exhibitions.
